The NFSA inaugurates Sounds of Australia with a foundation list of ten sound recordings of cultural, historical and aesthetic significance. Sounds can be popular songs, advertising jingles, famous speeches, radio broadcasts, or any other sound recordings – as long as they’re Australian and more than ten years old.
Each year, the Australian public is asked to nominate new sounds to be added with the final selection determined by a panel of industry experts.
