The NFSA celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the award-winning film Shine (1996) in August with a special screening followed by a Q&A with star Geoffrey Rush, director Scott Hicks, producer Jane Scott and screenwriter Jan Sardi.
The next day pianist David Helfgott – played by Rush in his Oscar-winning performance – appeared live in concert (with Rhodri Clarke) at the NFSA in Canberra.
