‘New’ Footage of Extinct Thylacine Found

Thyalcine at Beaumaris Zoo in ‘Tasmania the Wonderland’ (1935)

The Tasmanian Tigers Archive Team discover ‘new’ footage of the extinct Thylacine. They locate the vision within a forgotten travelogue, Tasmania the Wonderland (1935), recently digitised by the NFSA.

Bradman in Colour

Donald Bradman walks out to bat at the SCG, 1949.

A recently donated film reveals the only known colour footage of Sir Donald Bradman playing cricket.

The 16mm colour footage is assumed to have been shot by George Hobbs. His son Adrian donated the film in a can marked ‘Manly and Bondi Beach, Sydney @1949’. It was a big surprise to find images of the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and Don Bradman.
