The interactive light and sound sculpture Fractured Heart, developed by Goyte (Wally de Backer) and illuminart, is installed in the NFSA exhibition gallery in December 2012. In February 2013 the NFSA presents Gotye@NFSA, a full day of public events hosted by CEO Michael Loebenstein and featuring Gotye, the illuminart team, and the Minister for the Arts, the Honourable Simon Crean MP.
First, Gotye participates in an NFSA Connects video conference involving six regional schools. He speaks about his music career and demonstrates how he uses sampled sounds to create his songs. Later in the day Gotye, Cindi Drennan from illuminart and Michael Loebenstein officially launch Fractured Heart to the public and the media on the steps of the NFSA.
The day ends with Gotye presenting a curated program of animations from artists he admires, or has worked with over the years.
