Game Masters: The Exhibition launches on 26 September 2019 and is on show until 9 March 2020. An interactive journey through five decades of video game history, it offers a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process behind the world’s most popular characters and franchises, and a chance to play them. The exhibition features interviews, never-before-seen concept artwork, an amazing display of vintage consoles and collectable items, and 80 playable games.
The exhibition opening coincides with the announcement that we are now collecting and preserving Australian video games, beginning with an initial list of eight games including: The Hobbit (Beam Software, 1982), Shadowrun (Beam Software, 1993), LA Noire (Team Bondi, 2011) and Florence (Mountains, 2018).
