In 2018 the NFSA joined the international Museum Dance Off competition for the first time. We saw it as a great opportunity to bring staff together in a creative challenge, as well as to show the public our facilities and the wide range of work that our experts do behind the scenes.
The competition grew out of ‘When You Work at a Museum’, a blog by American museum worker Maggie Guzowski. In their entries, museums, galleries, libraries and archives from around the world showcase their facilities and work – and show off their best dance moves.
We were thrilled to win the national title and place in the international ‘Thunderdome’ final (ultimately won by New Zealand’s South Canterbury Museum).
