The NFSA presents the inaugural Ken G Hall Award to Rupert Murdoch of News Corporation and Alan Rydge of Greater Union for their sponsorship of Operation Newsreel, a major collection and preservation program of Cinesound and Movietone newsreels that commenced in 1989.
Subsequent recipients include Peter Weir, Anthony Buckley, Phillip Noyce, Paul Cox and Patricia Lovell.
