40 years of mystery

2015 marks the 40th anniversary of one of Australia’s best-loved films, Picnic at Hanging Rock, directed by Peter Weir. The NFSA celebrates this milestone by sharing rare videos, costumes, props, oral history interviews, posters, photographs and documents from our collection in an online exhibition. Actress Anne Louise Lambert, who played Miranda in the film, introduces a screening of the film at the NFSA in Canberra and participates in a Q&A on 7 August 2015, 40 years to the day that Picnic had its world premiere screening in Adelaide.

The exhibition joins a growing suite of online presentations of Australian film that includes: The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) and Muriel’s Wedding  (1994).
